Our Story
Our deep roots within the local community can be traced back three generations to 1927, when Naonobu Yoshino started Yoshino Drug Store at the corner of King and Kaheka Streets. Naonobu’s son, Richard Yoshino followed in his father’s footsteps and opened Value Drug Ltd. in Kalihi in 1953. Richard’s son Byron also became a pharmacist, making him the third generation Yoshino family member to enter the field of healthcare.
The Founding of Pharmacare Hawaii
In 1983, Byron Yoshino and Rick Sakurada established Pharmacare Hawaii after recognizing the need for at-home IV antibiotic and total parenteral nutrition therapies. Combining a diverse range of therapies with highly personalized customer care, they saw Pharmacare Hawaii thrive as the first company in Hawaii to offer high-tech therapies outside of the hospital setting.

Pharmacare Hawaii is now one of the state's largest diversified health care providers committed to the health and well-being of those residing on all major islands. Services include infusion, specialty pharmacy, nutrition and incontinence supplies, and long term care services in doctor’s offices, in the comfort of patients’ homes, or in a modern ambulatory infusion suite.
