Infusion Therapy

Care at home or in one of our ambulatory infusion suites

About Infusion Therapy

The most common types of infusions include antibiotics, tube feeding, and specialty infusions.

To receive infusion therapy services, you will need a referral from your doctor. Ask your doctor about infusion therapy with Pharmacare Hawaii. If you would like more information before speaking with your doctor, you can call us directly at 808-836-0223.

Here’s What You Can Expect When You’re Referred To Pharmacare Hawaii

Starting infusion therapy can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Here’s what you can expect when you’re referred to Pharmacare Hawaii:

Our Nurse liaison or Registered Dietitian liaison will contact you to determine the safest and most convenient location for your infusion: at home or at one of our infusion suites on Oahu, Big Island, Maui, or Kauai.

A Pharmacist will review your therapy plan to ensure it’s safe and effective.

We will verify your benefits, work with your insurance provider, and your Patient Care Specialist will clearly explain any out-of-pocket costs to you before scheduling.

A Nurse will administer your infusion or teach you how to safely manage it at home, bringing all needed medications and supplies.

A pharmacist will check in within 72 hours, and you’ll have 24/7 access to a nurse or pharmacist for support. For ongoing home therapy, we coordinate refills, arrange nursing visits if needed, and deliver supplies at no additional cost.

For assistance, call 808-836-0223 (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm) or 808-524-2575 (after hours).

Testimonials

Hear from those who have experienced our exceptional care

"When my doctor said I needed an infusion, I was scared and unsure of what to expect. I told my doctor I didn't want to go to the hospital. Now, I look forward to seeing Sandy and her team because they have become like family to me. They supported me through every step of my journey and I trust them with my life."

Leena
Patient, Honolulu

“Living on the West Coast while helping care for my mom in Hawaii can be challenging, but Pharmacare Hawaii has made a big difference. She has been a patient for nearly four years and requires weekly visits from a Pharmacare nurse, whom she absolutely loves. The nursing staff, pharmacists and delivery team are incredibly kind and responsive, which gives me confidence that she’s receiving the best possible care.”

Esther

My nurse was always friendly, supportive, and made me feel comfortable throughout my care. She was on time to our appointments and took the time to explain how to manage my therapy. The delivery team worked around my schedule and offered flexible options so I wasn't stuck with just one delivery time.

Infusion Therapy FAQs

Get answers to common questions about our specialized pharmacy services

At Pharmacare, you can usually start your treatment quickly. A Nurse is ready to assess you and begin your infusion soon after you arrive. Other centers may have longer wait times because of check-in, paperwork, or limited staff.

In most cases, the answer is yes. We can provide you with the tools and treatments you need to manage infusion therapy on your own. If you qualify, our highly credentialed staff can help you set up treatments at home while working closely with your entire healthcare team. We offer an expanded lineup of limited at-home specialty pharmacy therapies as an alternative to outpatient infusion centers.

It depends on the type of medication and how comfortable you are giving it yourself. Treatments in the suite are given and monitored by a Registered Nurse.

Home infusions are available for limited therapies on Oahu, Big Island, Kauai, and Maui.

  • Your first dose must be given in an infusion suite.
  • A Nurse will assess your safety and readiness before approving home treatment.
  • Appointments depend on availability.

Our Pharmacists review each prescription for interactions with existing medications, allergies, and dose appropriateness. If we find any concerns, we will contact the doctor before filling the prescriptions.

Your Doctor will decide based on your condition and how you respond to therapy.
